TRIPLE PLAY 2001

EA Sports was at it again, creating another excellent Triple Play game. In this one, there are lots of surprises and bonuses that really boostthe fun of gameplay. The best Triple Play game yet.

                                                  GAMEPLAY

Triple Play 2001 is a wicked game. There are many different modes like Big League Challenge, Season, Play-Offs, but most cool, Home Run Legends. Compete in a Home Run Derby with the likes of Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Ted Williams.

As you play games, you can unlock features by doing special things in a game. Things like Fast Players, Huge Ball, Huge Head, etc. that make playing the game a whole lotta fun and a whole lotta laughs. Unlock new stadiums and unlock Legends of the game.

But like all Triple Play 2001 games, when it comes to actually playing a GAME, it is not so good. Keyboard, Mouse, and GamePad all work. It uses the real batting stances of the players, but it is hard to gain accuracy on where the ball is going, it is nearly impossible to aim your dives, but when you make a wall-jumping catch to save a home run, it makes it all worth while.

                                               GRAPHICS

Excellent for a baseball game. The players faces are realistic, all the stadiums look like the real thing. Fastballs have a red streak on them, the crowd is little circles like always. The players in the ready position is a cool thing. when you slide, it's nothing special. Always head-first into the base. The baseman just stands there until he gets the ball, and reaches down for the tag. No trying to trick the runner, just stands there.

But the way the players get upset, and argue, and the pitchers celebrating after a strikeout, the banners on the stadium, and fireworks falling from the roof after a victory make it a very good graphics-wise baseball game.

                                                   AUDIO

The audio is really good. The announcers, like always, giving a special home run call, telling little historical facts in between games. Those funny advertisements like Chork and Lobster Cola are still there.

The sound of the crowd cheering, chanting, and the sound of a home run ball being hit, the loud BOOOOOOOM! is really good audio. The ump yelling out STRIKE #! The players and ump arguing over a bad call is really funy, but it is in GIBBERISH. Im not going there again.
